Drive Sames 4 Education
Welcome Bastrop Independent School District, Texas 2026!
Perfect Attendance Program
Need a new ride? Coming to school can earn you a new set of wheels with the Drive Sames 4 Education Perfect Attendance Program.
Program History and Overview
In August 2012, Sames Auto Group launched its first-ever Drive Sames for Education vehicle giveaway during a press conference at the Sames Laredo dealership.
What began as a local initiative has grown into one of Sames' longest-running community programs, expanding across six school districts in Laredo, Corpus Christi, Bastrop, and McAllen.
More than a decade later, Drive Sames for Education continues to reward students for their commitment to perfect attendance and make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve-one student, one community, and one set of keys at a time.
Rules and Participation Guidelines
Purpose
The purpose of this contest drawing is to help increase daily student attendance at the high school level by giving a new vehicle to an eligible participating ISD high school student who has perfect attendance during the current school year. The "Drive Sames 4 Education" program will continue to operate as usual, and the grand prize give-away will continue to be awarded in participating Independent School District high schools at the end of the school year.
Contest Periods
The Program typically consists of five six-week attendance periods beginning with the second six weeks. The school year calendar adopted by the participating school district(s) shall define the dates included in each six-week period. These periods may vary according to participating school district calendars.
Guidelines
The following guidelines are meant to ensure consistency in implementing the "Drive Sames 4 Education" Car Give-Away throughout all high schools in the district for the school year.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in a participating school district high school in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in at least three classes at their respective high school by the Monday of the second week of the respective six-week period. Only students whose parents have completed the Student Information Verification (SIV) in Skyward, or their district's equivalent system (including residency verification), are eligible.
Voucher Details and Selection of Finalists
Students may receive up to five vouchers total to be included in the contest drawing, based on their perfect attendance during the contest periods defined above. However, a student's name can only be drawn once to participate in the final phase of the contest.
Vouchers are printed on special safety-coded paper and color-coded to represent each of the participating high schools. Before the contest drawing, vouchers must be turned in by a student or parent only at participating Sames dealerships in their school district's participating city, during normal business hours.
All vouchers must be turned in to Sames according to the contest period indicated on the voucher, in the city assigned to their participating school district. A pre-determined number of students from each high school will be selected as finalists to participate in the final phase of the contest.
Parent/Guardian and Finalist Meeting
Each finalist for the Drive Sames 4 Education program must be present at the Finalist and Parent Meeting, held after the high school drawings at the end of the year and before the first graduation ceremony. Time, date, and location will be announced.
Finalists from each high school will be selected to participate in the final phase of the contest. One envelope will be distributed to each finalist. Finalists will draw numbers before the final phase of the drawing at the parent and student meeting to determine the order in which they will select an envelope at the event.
The finale event will take place prior to one of the high schools' graduation ceremonies. Only one envelope will indicate the winner of the car. The student who receives the winning envelope will win the new vehicle from the participating Sames dealership. Must be present to win.
At the finale event, each finalist will choose an envelope in the order determined at the parent/student meeting. Only one envelope will contain the message "You are the winner of a new Sames (vehicle)!" The student who receives the winning envelope that starts the vehicle will win the new vehicle from the assigned Sames dealership. Tax, title, and license will be paid for by the sponsor or affiliate.
Perfect Attendance Defined
Perfect attendance is considered an exceptional attendance record for a student who has attended each scheduled class daily. As determined by the respective participating school district's student handbook, under the attendance section: students must be in class when the bell rings at the beginning of each class period. Students are marked tardy if they report to class after the bell rings without a proper excuse. Four tardies or early releases in any one class are counted as one unexcused absence for award and perfect attendance purposes.
The only absences considered "excused" for this program are absences recognized as "excused" under Texas Education Code Section 25.087.
Verification of Perfect Attendance
Each participating school district's student attendance system will be used to verify attendance for the defined contest periods. The campus principal, or designee, will utilize the district's attendance record-keeping system to verify that students have attained perfect attendance for this program.
