XL Trim
The XL trim is the base model for the 2022 Super Duty. The truck has a 6.2L V8 engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and a rear-wheel drivetrain. A diesel or twincharged option can be added for an additional cost. The three-seater truck has a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 lbs. The truck is available in eight exterior colors, five interior colors, and offers vinyl seating. Safety features included at the XL trim level include a back-up camera, rear parking aid, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, ABS brakes, tire pressure monitoring, stability and traction control, and brake assist. Several infotainment features are included at this trim level including Bluetooth connectivity, smart device integration, wi-fi hotspot, auxiliary audio input, and an MP3 player.
XLT Trim
The XLT Super Duty trim level is very similar to the base trim with a few standout changes. This trim uses the same engine, transmission, and drivetrain. The upgrade engine options available on the XL trim are also offered at the XLT trim. Like the XL, the XLT has room for three occupants and has a towing capacity of 13,300 lbs. All of the exterior colors options are the same, but the XLT has several more interior options than the base model. Infotainment options for the XLT include everything in the XL package and add satellite radio as standard equipment and HD radio as an option. The XLT upholstery also gets an upgrade from vinyl to cloth seats. Where the XLT really stands out compared to the XL model is in terms of safety features. All safety features in the XL safety package are included with the addition of cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.
Lariat Trim
In terms of engine, powertrain, drivetrain, torque, and horsepower, the XL and XLT Ford Super Duty trims are almost exactly the same. However, the first thing you'll notice is the Lariat is bigger than the two trims below it, and include room for up to five in the cabin. The eight exterior color options available to the XLT trim are also available with the Lariat trim level. Additionally, two optional colors, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Star White Metallic Tri-Coat are available. At this trim level, Ford added a premium sound system that audiophiles will love. The full-size truck also has a variety of interior options including leather, bucket seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and woodgrain interior trim details. The Lariat offers a majority of the safety features offered in the XLT trim and more safety features than offered at the base level.
King Ranch Trim
The 2022 Ford Super Duty King Ranch trim level includes the same engine, transmission, and seating options as the Lariat. The biggest change from the Lariat trim to the King Ranch trim is the King Ranch trim only comes in four-wheel drive. Ford's darkest exterior colors, two light colors, and the limited Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and the Star White Metallic Tri-Coat are all options for this trim level. There aren't any changes between the Lariat and the King Ranch infotainment options, but it is possible to add a sunroof/moonroof to the King Ranch trim. The safety options between the King Ranch and Lariat are also identical.
Platinum Trim
The Platinum trim level is the 2022 Super Duty's top option. The engine, transmission, and seating options are the same as the Lariat and King Ranch. Like the King Ranch, the Platinum model is available in four-wheel-drive only. Those interested in the Platinum trim option can choose from five basic colors and two limited-time color options. The Platinum trim level includes leather seats, woodgrain trim, and a premium sound system. The top of the line 2022 Super Duty also includes the best safety features in its class and a variety of driver assists that help build driver confidence behind the wheel.
